About Libertiki

I created Libertiki to help organize the Libertarian community. This blog was created to help distribute information for the Libertarian community. It will be used as the news and information for the community of online Libertarians.

The Internet is important to the Libertarian community because it is a way for them to connect to spread the Libertarian philosophy and ideas.  The Libertarian community is large, but it needs a way of coming together. Many projects have been started by many different groups, to accomplish this in their local areas. Libertiki is a way for Libertarians to connect on the Internet.

Many online users have leanings toward the Libertarian party and their ideas. Libertiki will allow them to focus their efforts on the Internet. The Libertarians have a rather large community online, making the goal of spreading Libertarian philosophy to mainstream politics and mainstream America, through the Internet an easier task.

What is a Libertarian? By Definition, According to American Heritage® Dictionary, A Libertarian is “one who advocates maximizing individual rights and minimizing the role of the state.” A Libertarian follows the political philosophy emphasizing the rights of the individual, as the right to self-ownership and, by extension, the right to private ownership of material resources and property.

Libertarian as a word, was not used until 1857, in a letter by Joseph Déjacque, but Libertarianism arose from the political philosophies of John Locke and the Baron de Montesquieu, and the moral and economic philosophy of Adam Smith in the 18th century.

The Founding Fathers of the United States saw the protection of liberty as the primary purpose of government. Thomas Jefferson had said, “rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others.” The Bill of Rights was created to protect our liberty.

The Libertarian Party is the third largest, current political party, in the United States. The political party was founded in 1971.

Libertiki is a blog designed to organize and interact with other Libertarians or liberty minded individuals. Libertiki is also the nickname or username of the creator and webmaster of this blog. The word Libertiki is portmanteau of the words wiki (a type of collaborative website) and Liberty.

Libertiki will be updated with political news and political editorials and opinions. There will also be links to resources that are helpful and valuable to the Libertarian community.
